Although Betty Cotton and her editorial staff carefully review instructions, occasionally mistakes slip by and make it into print. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.
When constructing Reversible Jacket B, please note the following change:
The square cut for the embroidery states 10" x 10", which is fine, as long as you keep your embroidered design within 6" x 6" (150mm x 150mm) The 10" x 10" fits better in most hoops. Trim embroidered square to 8" x 8".

Nine-Patch Polka Quilt Clarification
|
|
Please include the following changes in the Nine-Patch Polka chapter of the book Cotton Theory® Quilting 2: Traditional Blocks.
Unfinished size of Nine-Patch Blocks will be: 9½" x 9½" (instead of 11" x 11")
Back side Short Sashing D, Long Sashings, and Borders G/H, I, J should read:
25 assorted fat quarters in green, brown, red, blue, and gold
Leftover yardage from sashing stars on front side will be equivalent to three fat quarters. If you use this on back side, you will only need 22 fat quarters instead of 25.
Binding: ¾ yd Brown (instead of brown)
Fabric Cutting Instructions for Nine-Patch Blocks should read:
From cream fabric: Cut 12– 3½" x 42" strips
From each of 3 assorted light prints: Cut 5– 3½" x 42" strips (total of 15 strips)
Squares G/H: Cut 8 - 5" x 5" instead of 16 - 5" x 5"
Binding: Cut 9 - 2½" x 42" strips
Under Nine-Patch Blocks, Step 1 should read:
1. Arrange four cream strips (3½" x 42") and five matching light print strips (3½" x 42") as shown in diagrams.
Binding: Cut 9 - 2½" x 42" strips
Under Quilting Instructions, the Note following Step 1 should read:
Note: Fence Rail Block will be larger than Nine-Patch Block (See example of enlarged back-side block on Page 21) Seams of Fence Rail Block should be vertical.
Should you make a muslin shell of the jacket prior to constructing the jacket, kindly sew the muslin pieces together with a 1/4" seam. Please do not add connectors at this time. To overcome the issue with the jacket pieces running a size smaller than what you would expect: Do not line up raw edges even when attaching the connectors to the jacket pieces. Instead, have the actual jacket piece 3/4" down from the raw edge of the connector. For every piece you add.......you will also gain 3/4". It is also very easy to sew soft curves when the raw edges are not even. There is no need to clip seams when going around a curve. The jacket may even run a little large. You can always add another connector in the back seam should you need more room for broad shoulders, down the sleeve should you need more upper arm room, etc. Please apply curb appeal binding to the jacket fronts in the same manner. Sew 1/4" seam allowance of front to a 1" seam allowance of binding.
Cotton Theory reversible Jackets should have had this information in it. I apologize!
